Siliko organizes summer picnic for all employees, contract workers and students every year. Since Siliko produces rubber parts our summer picnic is also named as Rubber party. This year we have decided to variegate picnic also with different sport activities. We have decided for rafting at Sava river.

On a hot summer day we have (with three buses) arrived to rafting starting place in Radovljica. Rafting boats and all other equipment have already been prepared for us - neoprene clothes, life jackets, helmets and of course also oars, that we later used more for sprinkling each other with water than for paddling!

Neoprene clothes wet through but they keep us warm despite that, since they keep warmth. Braver refused to wear them and risked swimming in a rather cold Sava river. We quickly ate some sandwiches and then as real sportsmen, armed with life jackets and helmets on our heads, headed towards Sava river. We carried boats to river bank and bravely embarked to boats. At the same among boat teams sprinkling with water started and so in a couple of minutes everybody was completely soaked.

In a half way we stopped at a river bridge and some of the bravest dared to jump of a rather high bridge. We continued the way and then reached our destination - island on the Sava river with picnic place on it. A typical Slovene double drying-frame »kozolec toplar« is located on the island. We have taken seats under »kozolec« and started with goulash, that was served in traditional »Rubber party cups 2007«, that we take home as a souvenir.

Later on a shorter storm threatened for a little while, but then a sunny warm day continued. Picnic continued with various sport activities: archery, bibi-gun shooting, badminton, volley ball, and football game Slovenia vs. Macedonia.

During sport activities grill specialties and at the evening also delicious desserts with house specialty - cream cakes »kremsnite« were served. With live music and good company picnic continued till 10 pm, and then we pleasantly tired headed home.

Next year we meet again - therefore interesting ideas are welcome!
